I love taking photos of sunsets.

I’d like to share with you a few of the ones that I took in the past six months:

I took this photo during my recent AirAsia flight from Bangkok to KL, not long after takeoff, but waaay before the turbulence started.

The profile in the photo is that of my assistant, my unwilling ‘model’ throughout the whole trip.

The spots are smudges from outside the window, which I have neither the time nor the inclination to Photoshop at this moment.

I almost never Photoshop my photos, to force myself to try to take better photos every time. Not that I’m getting any better — I still suffer from a serious case of camera shake 🙁

I shot this one off the coast of Muscat, Oman in January 2008.

We were in a small, glass-bottomed boat meant for 20 people and I had a hard time keeping my balance, as the boat was rocking violently practically the whole time.

DH and I were in Muscat to attend the wedding of the daughter of a very close friend of his. We’ve seen that girl grow up through the years and it felt so unreal to see her getting married. It made me feel kinda old again 😉

I’ve been working on a post on my Omani henna experience, which I’ll probably post this week.

This is Twin2 silhouetted against the setting sun at a beach in Port Dickson, taken in December 2007.

Port Dickson, more popularly known as PD, is about an hour-and-a-half’s drive from KL. It’s in the state of Negeri Sembilan (literal meaning: negeri = state, sembilan = nine), towards the south. If you take the North-South highway to drive to Singapore, you will have to pass by Negeri Sembilan if you are coming from KL.

We — DH, the kids, my mum (whom the kids call Lola, the Tagalog/Cebuano term for ‘grandmother’) and I — were in PD for a weekend getaway at that time. I have actually written a little something about that trip. I just might share that with you in my next post…

This photo of the sunset at Sabak Bernam is one of my all-time favourites. I took this in November 2007.

Sabak Bernam is a sleepy town in the state of Selangor, about 2 hours’ drive from KL, towards the north.

To this day, I don’t know what compelled me to take that particular photo that day. But I just did. And it came out exactly as how I pictured it in my mind. I tried a few other shots shortly after that, but none of them could convey the same mood that this one does.

As you can see, the image quality and colours of this pic (shot using a borrowed D80) are much, much better than the other 3 pics (taken with my D40). Which is why I’m thinking of selling off my D40 and upgrading to a D80 when my budget permits it… Unless I start making money with my hobby soon (every photography enthusiast’s dream), I just might have to resort to putting up a “PayPal Donation” button in this site to support my ’cause’ 😀

Oh, and in case you’re wondering who those people in the Sabak Bernam sunset pic are, I have absolutely no idea!
