Deanna: Grated coconut toasted with sugar is yummy…and is actually also used as a filling for those Chinese buns (locally known as ‘pau’). Thanks for dropping by!

Kg: Kaya is fantastic with toast — toast some bread, spread some kaya, dot with butter, take a bite, sip some coffee, rinse, repeat. Addictive!

Glad the vanilla beans reached you safe and sound. Happy baking with them!

You had me until anchovy and chili. Not a taste sensation I’m familiar with, that’s for sure.

Jessi: It’s actually good. The sweetness of the bun goes very well with the spicy savoury taste of the sambal ikan bilis (anchovy sauteed in chili). Or maybe my tastebuds have become Malaysianised as well hehe.

Avril: They’re “cheap & good”, to use the words of a very good friend ;)
