Sorry for this late post announcing the winners of my vanilla bean giveaway. My schedule’s been very erratic lately (case in point: buy plane ticket 10 am, pack clothes 10.30 am, check in online 12 noon, fly 5 pm the same day) and I haven’t had the time to sit down and write a proper post until today.
And so, without further ado, the winners are…..
- Caryn – Tokyo, Japan
- Joana – GenSan, Philippines
- Sheng – GenSan, Philippines
- Lola – Denver, Colorado
- Odette – Dublin, Ireland
- Fortuitous Faery – New Jersey, USA
- Janet – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
- Mama Safiyyah – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
- KG – Manila, Philippines
- WitsAndNuts – Dubai, UAE
Thank you for participating, friends. I hope you enjoy the vanilla beans for your next baking project, for making vanilla sugar, and/or for making your own vanilla extract.
More importantly, thank you very much for taking the time to let me know what you think about my blog. It’s nice to know people are actually reading and enjoying what I’m writing. As I was telling RB the other day, sometimes I feel like updating my blog is a waste of time because it’s like talking without having anyone talk back to me…then I get feedback like these and I’m once again inspired to continue doing what I’m doing.
Maraming salamat po, terima kasih banyak-banyak, merci beaucoup, muchas gracias, shukran, thank you!

I didn’t comment on the contest post because I would be clueless what to do with real vanilla. I’d stare at in fear until it went bad. Does it go bad? See, I don’t even know. However, I love this blog and I think you have just the right mix of stuff. I love the travel stuff because I’ll probably never get most of the places you talk about and I, of course, adore hearing about your kids. I couldn’t get enough of the wedding series. You do great work, MiMi.

jessi: you’re so funny :) i have no idea how long vanilla lasts but this site says it can easily last at least 2 yrs: http://www.germancorner.com/re.....sugar.html. vanilla sugar’s the easiest to make — you just chuck one vanilla bean into your sugar pot and your sugar will smell nice and vanilla-y after a while. i personally find it very nice with tea. here’s a site about making your own vanilla: http://shecraves.typepad.com/m.....sugar.html
and now that you mentioned that wedding series, that reminds me that i should work on the last (?) installment: the souvenirs that are given away to the guests.

Mimi, there are times when my whole photography looks so crappy to me, I get so frustrated with myself. Everything I do seems useless. At times I cry because I think I am wasting my time and that time is passing so fast… It seems like you’ve got a little milder version of that I go through :). But still makes me feel better that I am not the only blogger who thinks so at times :)
I really encourage you to keep on writing! You are an inspiration! You do what you do well, you share useful information. It is an honor for me to read endeavors of a person with a full house, full time job and lots more on her plate. You teach a lot! Thank you for that!!!!
Love you,
Lola
