Feeling Helpless

Just when I had everything planned for today, life throws me a curveball. It was nothing elaborate, really — just a simple matter of planning out my entire Thursday. I ended up canceling everything because my twins got hit by the dreaded diarrhea+vomiting combination.

The funny thing is, I’ve been through all sorts of things in my life but nothing makes me feel quite as helpless as seeing my child — or, in this case, my two youngest children — weakened by illness. It doesn’t matter if it’s a fever or a broken leg or chicken pox.The point is, their illness reminds me just how fragile their tiny bodies are and of the fact that, apart from giving them their medicines and giving them tepid sponge baths and rubbing ointment on their backs and bellies and praying to God to please, please, please heal them, there is simply nothing that I can do about it in the end. They are human. I am human. And no matter how much I love them, even if I cry until my tears run dry, even if I stay up all night and end up with dark eye circles like blackeyes, after I’ve given it my all…the rest is up to God.

I hope they’ll recover soon. Hindi ako mapakali kahit simpleng lagnat lang meron ang anak ko. A lot of things comes to my mind like food poisoning, infection etc. Although its not my wife’s fault, kung minsan napapagbuntunan ko ng sisi ang kawawang misis ko.

    kak mimi,

hope the lil heroes get well soon…..seems like it’s a very bad virus travelling via water (our piping system)…..in spite of having water filter installed at home and boiling his bottles every morning, my 9 mths son was admitted to Naluri for one nite last week for the same reason…my daughter, parents, and four nieces and a nephew also got it…..my son was really dehydrated that he didnt have tears when he cried….

dr khairul (Naluri Paed) said our water is bad nowadays……even if we boil the water, it wont kill the virus…..give them lots of 100plus….hope they’ll be up and about soon….

    take care!

tama ka, we feel so helpless seeing our kids weak, especially when we are used to seeing them so energetic and full of life. ako, pag may sakit sa wendy, i feel sad seeing her na walang gana kumain, considering that she loves to eat!

anyway, get well soon to the twins mimi!

I think you should let them bring their own water to the nursery. I hope they get well soon. Kesian….

I agree: there is nothing worse than watching your little ones be sick and not being able to do anything to help. I hope they feel better really soon!!

alhamdulillah…my boy is up and about…..yup….he cried when the doctor wanted to put in the IV drip….and he had to do it several times on both hands and ended up putting it on his foot instead…tapi no tears at all…..even his voice was not as loud as usual….

hope the cute lil twins are getting better….
