My Heart Is Singing On A Monday

It’s a Monday. And the clouds are a threatening dark grey. But I’m surprisingly light-hearted today, singing under my breath a song called “You” by Basil Valdez, a Filipino artist who had his share of fame in the 80′s.

It all started when we went out for dinner Saturday night in Bandung, Indonesia. (DH, RoundBoy and I were there for the weekend.) We were in this hillside restaurant called “Sierra”. In between a few phone calls, I was perusing the menu…then it suddenly struck me that I knew the song that the live band was performing. Of course, at that time I couldn’t remember the title and singer. But deep down, I knew that I knew that song and could even sing along to the chorus.

As always, Google came to the rescue later on, showing me the lyrics, the song title and the singer, even the year of release — 1985.

I can’t, for the life of me, recall a single specific memory attached to that song. I just know that, for some very special reason that I can no longer remember, that song made me very happy way back when I was just entering my teens, so much so that I feel happy singing it 24 years later.
