This weekend’s treat is a favourite among the kids, a no-brainer to prepare, and is ready in a jiffy: Super Chewy Brownies, adapted from AllRecipes.Com’s Deep Dish Brownies.
Here’s the tweaked recipe:-
Super Chewy Brownies
Ingredients:
* 3/4 cup butter, melted
* 1 1/2 cups white sugar
* 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract (or 1 vanilla bean)
* 1 egg
* 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
* 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
* 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease an 8-inch square pan.
2. In a large bowl, blend melted butter, sugar and vanilla. Beat in the egg. Combine the flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Gradually blend into the egg mixture. Spread the batter into the prepared pan. [Note: For chewies brownies, split the recipe into two and cook in 2 separate pans.]
3. Bake in preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until brownies begin to pull away from the sides of the pan. Let brownies cool, then cut into squares. Enjoy!
The brownies are excellent on their own… or topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Dieters, beware! This recipe’s a real calorie bomb! If you’re trying to lose weight, this might be a good time to take those appetite suppressants ;)
yum! i’m craving for a brownie now!
if you like it chewy, try this recipe, ‘dette. just put all the ingredients in a bowl, mix, bake. no fail recipe. unless you bake it too long and it ends up rock-hard hehe.
that look so yummy i wonder when am going to learn baking and cooking ^_^
Who cares about calorie bomb! The Super Chewy Brownies photo you show above already is super irresistible.
hmmmn… i love super chewy brownies. sarap! sana i know how to bake. when i do brownies ala mode, i just buy brownies from kfc :D then top it with vanilla ice cream and drizzle with choco syrup.
mmmm! ang sarap! magawa nga ito ;-)
these brownies never last a day in my house. even if i double the recipe… and even when i overbake them and they come out a bit harder than usual. hmm…that reminds me: i promised the kids to bake another batch this week!
this is the best brownies i ever tried…i love it, super chewy. I used only 1 cup of sugar instead of 1 1/2 c.
interesting. i’ll try making the brownies with just 1 cup of sugar next time then :)
Is the baking powder necessary, I have not been able to get consistently good brownies. Also, can you explain splitting the recipe and baking it seperately for chewier brownies. Mine come a little cake like.
Hi Namy. You can omit the baking powder to get a denser brownie. You must split the batter if you don’t want the brownies to end up with a cake-like consistency. Thinner batter = denser, chewier texture. Hope this helps.
thnx for the recipe.i will try this hope that it will turn chewy delicious brownies like what the recipe say…
