Posted by Mimi on 27 February 2009

By day, it’s a cushion (or call it a throw pillow, if you wish)…

When nightfall comes, open up the zip and… Voila! You’ve got yourself a lightweight quilt.

Perfect for long road trips with kids.Perfect for sleepovers.

Perfect for Friday nights spent curling up in front of the TV while watching two DVDs back-to-back with the kids (‘Space Buddies’ and ‘Bee Movie’ last week, ‘Kungfu Panda’ and ‘Nim’s Island’ tonight).

They’re machine-washable, too. Now on sale at Ikea Malaysia for RM69 (normal price: RM89). Available in blue, green, and orange.

Hats off to Ikea’s creative team for such an ingenious idea that packs versatility and convenience in one very nifty package!

Bon weekend à tous!

Ikea have some great stuff :) That’s quite clever! I like, especially for when traveling!

I go to Ikea when I need “space saving” furnitures and also for their free magazine. It’s full of wonderful ideas and gave me hints when I design something.

Sheng: When a Filipina friend visited me last November, she went ‘berserk’ at Ikea. I told her to bring an empty bag next time just for Ikea stuff haha!

Mark: Maraming salamat po :) Yes, KL is a nice place to visit. Watch out for AirAsia’s free flight offers from Clark ;)

Sinta: My kids also love to go to Ikea because they have a place for kids, complete with ball pool, an indoor mini theatre, colouring activities. It gives kids a place to play while parents shop. I think it’s marketing genius on Ikea’s part!

BlogusVox: Yes, their ideas are inspiring. And I like the fact that customers are welcome to try everything that’s on display — open drawers and cabinets, lie down on the beds, sit on the chairs.

I love Ikea. Just like in a bookstore, I can stay there the whole day having the time of my life. They’re very innovative.

  7. Josiet

That’s a great find! Unfortunately I didn’t see this when we went to Ikea last week…

witsandnuts: you’re right. one can spend hours and hours inside ikea. the bad thing is: the longer you stay, the greater the probability that you buy a lot! :D

josiet: maybe the stocks just came in. they always seem to have something new. sometimes they bring in items that are not in the catalogue.

ikea is the adult’s playground! i totally went crazy when kj took me to ikea amsterdam, i actually begged that we take a second round of the entire shop. before i left, we went back there again as it was very close to his flat. i love their cafe!

we’ll have ikea here in dublin soon, they’re opening in July!

odette: i love their meatballs! (note to muslim readers: ikea malaysia is probably the only ikea that serves halal meatballs. or so i’ve been told by a swedish friend.)

ikea dublin in july is great news. now you can have meatball cream sauce anytime ;)

  11. Raduzko

Does anybody know what is the name of this amazing folding/zipping pillow?

  12. Mimi

Raduzko: Too bad Ikea doesn’t sell them anymore.
